Geography of Linguistics: Place Does Not Speak Its Language A Reading in the Sudanese Linguistic Landscape

Abstract

The main aims of this study are: To care about Sudanese linguistic issues and support positive interaction between Arabic language and National languages; to show the importance of language in self – strengthening and existence support and to enhance the personal culture of the Sudan towards political, social stability and development. The core study questions are as flows: Why national languages have not been unspoken as Arabic language? What are the national languages that fricative with Arabic language and has been absorbed? What will we do to conserve national languages? Is the preference of foreign languages lead us to the innovation and made us free from political and social backwardness? The study has applied the descriptive, field and analytical approaches targeting 121 students as a sample out of 580 questionnaire   and observation as a tools. The statistical package for social sciences SPSS was applied for analyzing the study data. The most important findings are depicted conflict and friction between Arabic language and national languages. The study concluded that national languages are not local slang, but local languages needs highly support to live actively with Arabic language.
