About the Journal
The Journal
The University of Bahri Medical Journal (UBMJ) is the official, peer-reviewed, open-access medical journal of the University of Bahri, Sudan. Established to serve as a beacon of medical excellence in the region, the journal publishes high-quality research covering the full spectrum of clinical medicine, basic sciences, and public health. UBMJ provides a platform for researchers, clinicians, and educators to share evidence-based findings that address both global health trends and local medical challenges in Sudan and the Horn of Africa.
Ownership and Governance
The journal is owned by the University of Bahri, a leading institution of higher education in Sudan. It is governed by an Editorial Board of distinguished experts and operates under the administrative and academic oversight of the University.
The Publishing Authorities
The publication of UBMJ is a collaborative effort between three key authorities at the University of Bahri:
     1. The College of Medicine: Provides the scientific and academic leadership. The College is responsible for the peer-review process, the selection of the Editorial Board, and ensuring the clinical relevance and ethical integrity of the published content.
     2. The Deanship of Academic Research: Acts as the administrative and financial sponsor of the journal. The Deanship ensures that the journal adheres to national and international research standards and manages the strategic growth and indexing of the publication.
     3. University of Bahri IT Services: Manages the digital infrastructure of the journal. This includes the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, website maintenance, digital archiving, and ensuring the security and accessibility of the journal's online presence.
Open Access Policy
UBMJ is committed to the "Gold Open Access" model. All articles are made immediately and permanently free for everyone to read, download, copy, and distribute. We believe that free access to medical knowledge is essential for the advancement of healthcare, particularly in resource-limited settings.
Peer Review Process
The journal employs a double-blind peer review system. All manuscripts are initially screened by the Editor-in-Chief and then evaluated by at least two independent expert reviewers. This ensures that only scientifically rigorous and ethically sound research is published.
Publication Frequency
UBMJ is published twice a year (semi-annually), with occasional special issues dedicated to specific medical themes or conference proceedings.
Ethical Standards
UBMJ follows the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism, data fabrication, and redundant publication.
