Aims and Scope

Vision

To be a leading regional and international platform for the dissemination of high-quality medical research that improves clinical practice, healthcare delivery, and health policy in Sudan and globally.

Mission

The University of Bahri Medical Journal (UBMJ) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing original research, clinical observations, and reviews across all medical disciplines. Our mission is to bridge the gap between basic science and clinical practice, with a particular focus on addressing health disparities in resource-limited settings and fragile health systems.

Scope of Coverage

UBMJ covers all aspects of medicine and health sciences, including but not limited to:

• Clinical Specialties: Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics & Child Health, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, and Psychiatry.
• Basic Medical Sciences: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, and Microbiology.
• Community & Public Health: Epidemiology, Nutrition, Environmental Health, Health Policy, Tropical Medicine, and Infectious Disease Management.
• Medical Education: Innovative teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and professional ethics in health sciences.
• Nursing & Allied Health: Advancements in nursing care, medical laboratory sciences, and rehabilitation.

Geographic and Strategic Focus

While UBMJ encourages submissions from authors worldwide, it gives priority to:

1. Sudan-Specific Research: Studies addressing the unique epidemiological, clinical, and health-system challenges within Sudan.
2. Tropical & Regional Health: Research dealing with diseases and health conditions prevalent in the Horn of Africa, Middle East, and Mediterranean regions.
3. Fragile Health Systems: Clinical and experimental work that offers practical solutions for healthcare delivery in resource-limited or conflict-affected environments.

Types of Articles Published

• Original Articles: Reports of high-quality clinical or experimental research.
• Review Articles: Comprehensive, state-of-the-art reviews on specific medical topics or systematic reviews/meta-analyses.
• Case Reports: Reports on rare conditions, unusual clinical presentations, or novel therapeutic approaches.
• Short Communications: Brief reports of preliminary findings or technical advancements.
• Historical Perspectives: Documentation of the history of medicine and pioneering health services in Sudan.

All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure scientific integrity and clinical relevance. The journal adheres to the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
